This is who I am!

I am married to a wonderful and godly Christian man named Randy; though not my first marriage, this is by far my wisest choice ever and this amazing relationship we have and this journey we embarked on together is the greatest of blessings to each of us.

I have two beautiful daughters that are both unique individuals with their own style and personalities; they differ greatly as the east is from the west and the north is polar opposite of the south, so are they. My oldest daughter Tiffany is married to a terrific man Andrew and together they have blessed Randy and myself with a beautiful granddaughter through the miracle of adoption. An amazing story in and of itself how Eleanor came to be such an integral part of our family is a testimony I love to share. My younger daughter Tara is single, strong-willed, independent and has blessed us with a grand-kitty.

My husband  and I love to spend time with the kids, travel and camp when time allows. We live in beautiful middle Tennessee where we get to experience the four seasons and I have been able to take a leave of absence from my work  as a Medical Liaison for a specialty Ergonomic Retail store and spend my days watching my beautifully talented and funny grand baby while my son-in-law and daughter work. We all are very blessed in so many ways and we are aware and conscious and thankful for each one.

I am passionate about reading and I love to write and have since I learned to put letters together making sounds and grouping them to form words in first grade. I can get lost for hours in book stores and libraries, thumbing through books of inspiration and personal testimonials of one’s triumphs over adverse obstacles. I love to hear about ordinary people overcoming extraordinary odds and giving all the glory to God. Now add a coffee shop and I am lost til closing time. In my love for writing, I may not always do it with the eloquence of other professional writers, I do however write from my heart baring my soul with each stroke of the pen. A friend shared this site with me and I am thankful to have the opportunity to share stories of inspiration and encouragement to whomever is led to read my blog posts.

My life has not been easy, as I have traveled many winding paths to get where I am today; many detours along the way and recovery stops which offered small respites from my hard and painful travels. I have never been one to dwell on the past, wallowing in self-pity and feeling sorry for myself for what’s been done to me or to feel guilty and regret what I’ve done and brought on myself. I am where I am now, I have what I have now and I do what I do now because of my past failures and bad decisions and they all brought me to now. I am thankful I survived, I am alive and I love God, my family and my life. All the broken roads, broken relationships and broken promises made me who I am and brought me to this life I live with honesty, amazing love, humility, forgiveness and compassion.  I would not trade one moment for the experiences I have had; I believe all that I went through fashioned me into who I am today. No regrets, only gratefulness that I have a voice, a story and that I am alive today and able to share with others the amazing saving grace of God, His faithfulness to me, His endless love and His forgiveness, His healing power and ability to restore broken relationships and to make all things new!

I love entertaining family and friends and being outdoors soaking up the beauty of God’s awesomeness in nature. I love God with my whole heart for He has proven Himself to me over and over again with His faithfulness when I deserved it the least. I finally realize my life’s purpose is to encourage and inspire others to live a life of love and honesty, to practice empathy and be moved with compassion to help others and to always be kind. I always say, ” Choose LOVE and from that comes forgiveness, healing, restoration, honesty, truthfulness and ultimately joy and always peace”.

My prayer is that we would open our eyes, our hearts and minds to the realization we are all part of this one big family where God is our Father and we are joint-heirs with Jesus Christ. NO ONE IS EXCLUDED!  We are all special, created, designed and destined for a specific purpose in life here on earth. When we search and finally find out what that purpose is, we will operate out of love, not fear; all the blessings that flow from it will allow us to naturally and ultimately find peace and satisfaction in serving others with the God-given, God placed gift we all have inside us.

Thank-you for taking the time to read my blogs, may you feel lifted up and inspired in some way,

    1. Thank You Drema! And much love to you and your family!

Quick question, how do I go about getting a book published? I know you have one published right?

      1. Sorry for just getting back with you, Tonya. I just saw this.

I do have many stories in the “Chicken Soup for the Soul” series and other literary magazines. I have written a novel that my agent is shopping while I write my next one.

A good place to start is picking up a guide like “Writer’s Market” from a bookstore.
        Best of luck!

  2. Tonya, I love your blog. I just read quite a bit and I follow along on Facebook. You are very inspiring.
I have looked into publishing options. I, too, was a child, beginning age eight or nine, that wanted to be an author. I wrote books in spiral notebooks and I decorated them and I made them exactly like a real book with cover pages and forwards and all of that. I did my own illustrations. I love book stores and libraries and I have bookshelves in most rooms of my home because that is the environment in which I feel most comfortable.
I can share with you some of the choices I have learned about publishing.
    With love, Valerie
