“Keep your eyes open, hold on tight to your convictions, stand firmly upon your faith, be courageous and fear nothing, give it all you’ve got, be resolute and always love without stopping.”
1 Corinthians 16: 13-14 The Message Bible
I was reading a passage of one of Charles Wesley’s messages this morning and this part really stood out to me.
“Soldiers of Christ, arise and put your armor on, be strong in the strength which God supplies through His eternal Son; Be strong in the Lord and courageous in His mighty power: for we who are in the strength of Jesus trusts are over comers and more than conquerors!”
The battle is not over, we still have much to do for the Kingdom of God is still at hand and being revealed to the people of earth. We must not grow weary in our living well and doing the right thing, we must not faint or give up, but we must call on Father to strengthen us and enable us to go on and fight the “good” fight.
We cannot push and shove our beliefs on others, but we must live our lives pleasing to the Lord and by our lives others will see truth, love and light being displayed and being revealed to them through our living testimony that we are children of God, that there is something remarkably different about us. We have to stop arguing what we are “against” and start revealing what we
are “for”! We as Christ Followers are first and foremost called to “love”, therefore we are “for” LOVE. Because our greatest example of love is in the ultimate sacrifice from our Father when His Son Jesus died on the cross for our sins. So we too must show and exemplify love, and people are drawn to us and to the heart of Father by our loving them, not hating them and preaching hell and damnation and causing them to be fearful. Perfect love casteth out all fear.
Pointing a judging, condemning finger at what others are doing wrong, all their sins and shortcomings does not change them, but through loving them anyway, in spite of their wrongs do we exemplify Christ’s perfect love and His amazing grace and forgiveness. Then and only then can the Holy Spirit be present and begin to do His job of perfecting them through Christ’s redeeming love: we draw them in by loving them first.
I pray you are strengthened today in love, preparing your heart for what lay ahead and be ready to reveal your love first. May you be kind and gentle, understanding and forgiving and may you receive back the same love you give so freely. We can be overcomers and victorious in the battles that rage on around us, listen to Father and keep your faith and hope in Him. He loves you and has not left you to face this journey alone. Keep the faith, as Paul says keep pressing onward. Our prize is just
ahead! Be at peace, even in the midst of your battles today and love and have a great day!
